Day 21 Car Dealer SEO tip of the day - A Bad Mobile Experience Causes Bad SEO

More Automotive SEO All Daily Tips

Today's tip: audit your own site on your phone like you're a buyer.

About 70% of your traffic is on a phone, and that one number should be driving your SEO priorities.

Check the number first

Search Console, Performance, then Devices. You'll see the mobile-to-desktop split for your own store. For most dealers it's around 70% mobile.

Now shop your own site

Pull it up on your phone. How much of the screen does your header eat before you see a car? How many scrolls to reach inventory? Can you tap to call without hunting? I've seen dealer sites where the header takes up half the screen.

I talked to a dealer this week who wanted to add two more logos up top. Everything you stack in the header pushes what the buyer came for further down. They scroll, they don't find it, they leave. That's your bounce rate, and Google reads it as a bad result and stops sending people.

If you can get where you want fast, you're in good shape. If you can't, take that list to whoever builds your site and start cutting.
