Day 09 of Car Dealer SEO Tips - NAP Time! Name. Address. Phone.

More Automotive SEO All Daily Tips

Today's tip: make your name, address, and phone identical everywhere online before you do anything else.

SEO has its own version of tech support's "did you restart the modem?" This is it. NAP - name, address, phone - is basic, basic stuff, and it's the little detail that derails a lot of SEO work when it gets overlooked.

Google reads a mismatch as a maybe-different business. "Matt's Auto Sales" on Google and "Matt's Auto Sales LLC" on Yelp, Suite 100 in one place and #100 in another, www on your site and no www on Facebook - every one of those is a small crack in your foundation. Nothing else you do ranks well until this is clean.

Start with your Google Business Profile

Pull up your listing on the map and look at exactly how Google has your name, address, and URL formatted. That's your master copy. Every other platform gets that exact format - LLC or no LLC, www or no www, pick one and stick to it.

Then work outward

  • Connect your Google Business Profile to Bing Places and it carries the info over for you.
  • Yelp next.
  • Facebook after that.
  • Then whatever else you're listed on.

Do this before you write a single new page. It's the restart-the-modem step of SEO. (Matching info on every listing is also what makes the Day 5 Yelp and DealerRater work count.)
